Katherine Gass, founder of James Company, is a collections curator and advisor with a particular passion for generating unique, symbiotic opportunities for artists within the luxury, business and hospitality sectors. She approaches all projects with an artist-centric philosophy and a collaborative spirit. She is the New York metro-region collections curator for Bank of America. She recently completed a 62 piece collection which includes original commissions for The Beekman, A Thompson Hotel, in New York City.
In 2011 she was a participant in a Service Innovation Roundtable at The Center for Hospitality Research, Cornell University School of Hotel Administration, invited to discuss a multi-platform custom art program she created in 2007 as curator for The Essex House, an historic Manhattan hotel previously owned by Jumeriah Group, and now a J.W. Marriott property. The subject of a published white paper, the Jumeriah Essex House Art Program included a custom collection with on-site commissions, changing exhibitions, museum partnerships, innovative art fair sponsorships, and an in-house Artist-in-Residence Program. As Jumeirah Group's Global Curator, she expanded and branded the program. Called "Culturally Connected," it encouraged Jumeirah properties across three continents to engage with and actively support their local cultural communities.
