Curated Support for Art & Acquisitions
A guided entry point into contemporary art collecting
CSAA is a seasonal, cohort-based program for people who want to engage contemporary art with clarity, context, and community. Designed for early-stage collectors and art-curious patrons, it offers a thoughtful pathway into the spaces, conversations, and relationships that shape how art circulates today — without pressure to buy.
Guiding Questions
How to begin collecting with confidence?
How to understand value in artwork?
How can we best contribute to cultural ecosystems that sustain today’s artists?

Each experience is designed to support learning, peer networking and informed decision-making.
Who this is for
Designed for early-stage collectors and art-curious patrons, it offers a thoughtful pathway into the spaces, conversations, and relationships that shape how art circulates today — without pressure to buy.
No prior knowledge is required. The program is intentionally welcoming and paced.
What you’ll gain
CSAA supports participants in navigating art spaces with clarity and ease. It builds practical knowledge around collecting, while fostering meaningful exchange with peers and professionals working across the field. Through sustained looking across different practices and spaces, participants come away with a depth of understanding.
CSAA approaches acquisition as a long-term commitment, grounded in thoughtful decision-making to cultivate the art advocates needed in the present moment. At James Co, we firmly believe that by supporting the art and artists of today we widen the conversational spaces needed for a more nuanced understanding of our world today.
How It Works
Inspired by the spirit of a Community Supported Agriculture model, CSAA brings participants together for a shared season of engagement. The cohort moves through a core sequence of gatherings, building trust and continuity while allowing optional opportunities to deepen involvement. Participants will get their choice of three guided events with an options for more.
CSAA is guided by Associate Advisor Sadaf Padder and Lead Curator Katherine Gass Stowe. Drawing on their curatorial and advisory practices, the program is shaped around clear guidance, thoughtful access, and responsible approaches to collecting.
